M&I Materials celebrated the success of its new US operations at its Americas office in Metro Atlanta, GA. M&I Materials is a renowned manufacturer of specialist materials for science and industry, including the MIDEL range of insulation fluids for the power generation and distribution sector. Working in collaboration with its US based manufacturing partner, Valtris Specialty Chemicals, M&I Materials has made an initial commitment to more than 10,000 metric tonnes per year of MIDEL eN fluids including its MIDEL eN 1215 fluid derived from US-grown soybeans. Alonso Castillo, M&I Materials President for North America, commented “We soft-launched our operations earlier in the year here in Duluth, and have already been encouraged by the response from the US transformer market – we are already supplying MIDEL 7131 to a major transformer manufacturer in Mississippi from local stock in USA.”
Mr. Castillo continued “The Metro-Atlanta region has proven a perfect location for our Americas headquarters. We’ve already taken advantage of the rich talent pool by adding technical and sales staff to our team and the connectivity offered by Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is unparalleled.”

As well as offering its MIDEL natural ester-based transformer fluid (MIDEL eN) to the US power generation and distribution market, M&I Materials is building on its existing business in providing Wolfmet tungsten alloys to the aerospace and nuclear engineering markets.
